Michael Kirkpatrick – Live at The Armory, Fort Collins
Fort Collins’ own Michael Kirkpatrick returns to The Armory for a special hometown performance. A Colorado-based vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Michael blends acoustic fingerstyle and folk rock into lush, evocative songscapes, a paradoxical mix of sunshine and fog. Shaped by the wide-open western landscapes he calls home and guided by an obsession with mandolin and guitar, Michael has carved a distinctive place in Colorado’s singer-songwriter, string band, and rock communities. His voice, with a dynamic range from quiet rumble to mountain-top exclamation, anchors performances that are equal parts soulful, humorous, and deeply human.
Celebrated for his originality and emotional depth, Michael’s songwriting and stage presence have been described as otherworldly. His lyrics are vast yet vulnerable, melodic yet daring, the work of an artist who balances imagination and intellect with fearless honesty. A lyrical poet, imaginative dreamer, and keen observer of the world, Michael continues to push his creative boundaries with a sense of wonder and just the right dose of weirdness.
Over the past decade, Michael has toured extensively throughout the American West, captivating audiences from desert stages to mountain towns. A cornerstone of the Colorado music scene, he is the recipient of the Telluride Troubadour Award, the FoCoMA Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been named FoCoMA’s “Best Singer-Songwriter” seven years in a row.
